Coalition proposes bill to make AG political appointment - report

The coalition is formulating a bill that would give the current government the power to appoint its own attorney-general through an appointments committee chosen by them, according to Ynet.

The new bill, which is in its early stages, would see the office of the attorney-general become a political appointment. Currently, the attorney general is appointed for a fixed six-year term which is regulated according to a series of government decisions, Knesset laws, and also a public committee.
