The US and Saudi Arabia said in a joint statement they welcomed the start of talks in Jeddah on Saturday between Sudan's army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces following weeks of fighting.
The US and Saudi Arabia urged both sides to "actively engage in the talks towards a cease fire and end to the conflict."
