EU leaders land in Israel to show solidarity

The President of the European Union Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the president of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola arrived in Israel on Friday to express solidarity after Hamas's assault on southern Israel.

"We are here with a message of solidarity after the worst terror attack #Israel has endured in generations," wrote Metsola on X. "Terror will not prevail. How we respond matters. We can - we must - stop Hamas. And do what we can to mitigate humanitarian consequences."
