NGO calls to cancel Netanyahu's 'political' hire for hostages coordinator

The State of Israel must annul Gal Hirsch's appointment as the coordinator for hostages and missing persons, the Movement for Quality  Governance said in an appeal filed Monday.

The appeal, filed to attorney-general Gali Baharav-Miara and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claimed the prime minister's decision to appoint Hirsch, who is affiliated with the ruling Likud faction, was political.

"It is an inappropriate appointment," the letter stated. "Israeli citizens deserve to have a qualified coordinator, rather than someone who got the role on a political basis."
