Israel to target individual terror operatives in enhanced counter-terrorism measures

The Israeli government's Ministerial Committee for Legislation greenlit an amendment to the 2016 Counter-Terrorism Law on Sunday, empowering the State of Israel to designate individual terror operatives, according to a joint statement made by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Justice Minister Yariv Levin.

Under the newly approved amendment, the defense minister gains the authority to individually designate persons involved in terrorist activities. The primary objective of this new legislation, according to the joint statement, is to strategically disrupt the financing channels of individuals affiliated with various terror organizations, with a particular focus on operatives of Hamas.
