French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Israel's government to avoid escalation following a strike attributed to Israel that killed Hamas’s deputy leader in Beirut, the Elysee Palace said in a Tuesday statement.
“It is essential to avoid any escalatory attitude, particularly in Lebanon,” Macron told Israeli minister and war cabinet member Benny Gantz in a Tuesday phone call.
