The Great Synagogue of Marseille was vandalized with graffiti during a lecture by philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy on Wednesday, the Israelite Consistory of Marseille said.
Vandals graffitied "free Gaza" on the front of the synagogue and a nearby building. A Palestinian flag was also erected at the site.
Security reportedly removed the flag and graffiti and informed the local authorities.
