Security cabinet fails to vote on Al Jazeera broadcasting restriction, postponed to Sunday

Israel's security cabinet did not vote on Thursday night on the closure of the Al Jazeera news channel's broadcasting in Israel and is instead expected to hold the vote on Sunday in a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli media reported on Friday.

The failure to hold such a vote comes after initial reports indicated that the cabinet would do so. Senior officials estimate that the postponement is due to hostage deal negotiations and the possibility of a deal.
