US President Joe Biden gave his first speech on Thursday after announcing that he is withdrawing from the presidential race.

In his remarks delivered from the Oval Office at the White House, he spoke of his decision, "In the last few weeks, I have decided that I need to pass the torch to a new generation" and that this would be "The best way to unite our nation. It's time for fresher, younger voices."

Biden also addressed the ongoing war in Gaza, noting that he would continue to work to end the war and free the hostages.

"I will work to end the war in Gaza and free all the hostages from Hamas captivity."
