Police officers responded to an incident in which there was "concern for human life" in Pisgat Ze'ev in Jerusalem, the police said on Thursday.
A 25-year-old female police officer was shot, and her current condition is unknown.
The police later noted that the incident was of a criminal background and that the forces had arrested the suspect who had fired at them.
A woman was seriously wounded in the incident, police added.
