Security forces thwarted an attempted terror attack at the Qalandiya checkpoint in the West Bank on Saturday morning, neutralizing a terrorist wearing a shirt with ISIS insignia, the Israel Police stated.
The terrorist reportedly arrived at the Qalandiya checkpoint armed with a knife and fired fireworks at security forces operating there. In response, a civilian security guard opened fire, neutralizing the terrorist.
The Israel Police and Border Police were dispatched to the scene, Israeli media noted. No wounded were reported.
During an inspection, a knife was found on the assailant, and he was wearing a shirt bearing the insignia of the ISIS terrorist organization, the police stated.
The police said that the attacker's identity and the circumstances of the attempted attack are under investigation.
