Aryeh Deri signs order barring senior Hamas operative from leaving country

Interior Minister Aryeh Deri signed an order prohibiting senior Hamas activist Muhammad Fawzi Suleiman Aranout to leave the country.

According to the intelligence material presented to Deri, Aranout was a senior Hamas activist for many years, whose trips abroad were used to promote terrorist activity.

Deri was convinced that Aranout's departure from the country was liable to cause serious damage to state security, and therefore forbade his departure.

The order is valid for six months. It should be noted that in recent years Deri extended the departure ban of Aranout from Israel.
