Ashalim Sun wins 30-mw government tender

The company Ashalim Sun PV has won an inter-ministerial tender for planning, financing, constructing and operating a 30-megawatt photovoltaic power plant in Ashalim, the Finance Ministry announced on Tuesday.
The fixed purchase price for electricity from the plant will be 53.65 agorot per kilowatt-hour, and construction on the plant is expected to start during the first half of 2015, the ministry said. Joining two nearby solar-thermal power stations that will be providing 110 megawatts each, this station and its neighbors will be providing about 2 percent of the economy's total electricity production, according to the Finance Ministry.
Energy and Water Minister Uzi Landau praised the tender committee's decision, adding that "choosing a winner is the first step and a positive signal that indicates progress of the parties involved."
