Ashkelon to PM: Consider compensating local businesses

Ashkelon Mayor Benny Vaknin turned to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Monday asking him to consider compensating business owners in the city who are affected by the deteriorating security situation.
Customers have stopped patronizing businesses and shopping, causing a steep drop in income for local businesses, Vaknin wrote in a letter to the prime minister.
"I am asking that you look into the possibility of compensating those business owners whose livelihood is likely to be thrown into crisis," the mayor wrote to Netanyahu, especially considering that nobody knows how long the current round of violence will last.
