Ashkenazi: We won't rest until Schalit is released

IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi on Friday said Israel would not rest until captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit is released. "Gilad Schalit is our solder who we sent on a mission, and until we have brought him home, we haven't completed our mission," said the chief of staff in Kfar Saba, where he was being hosted in honor of the city's high IDF enlistment rate. "We won't be silent and won't rest until Gilad is brought home, which I hope will be soon." Ashkenazi stressed the importance of serving in the army, citing the many threats that still exist against Israel. "There are still countries that haven't accepted Israel's existence and we are still faced with many challenges," he said. "Therefore, it's important that we continue to have a strong and high quality army and continue enlisting in the IDF."
