Assad rejects creation of refugee safe zones in Syria

BEIRUT - Syrian President Bashar Assad rejected the creation of safe zones for refugees and displaced people, an idea supported by US President Donald Trump, saying they would not work, according to the transcript of an interview published on Friday.
Assad also said in the interview with Yahoo News that US troops would be "welcome" in Syria to fight Islamic State provided Washington coordinated with Damascus and recognized his government's sovereignty.
