Assailant shot in Ashkelon stabbing attack succumbs to wounds in hospital

The assailant who was shot after stabbing and lightly wounding an IDF soldier Sunday morning in Ashkelon succumbed to his wounds hours later, the hospital treating him announced.

Security forces shot and wounded the assailant after he attempted to flee the scene near the city's central bus station.

A spokesperson from Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon said the man had undergone surgery and additional procedures to treat his complex wounds before medical staff ultimately pronounced his death.
