At least 3 killed as suicide bomber hits mosque north of Baghdad

Iraqi police say at least three people were killed and 19 wounded when a suicide bomber struck a Shiite mosque north of Baghdad. The attack raises to at least 15 the number of people killed nationwide Monday in a series of bombings. Police spokesman Maj. Ghalib al-Karkhi says the bomber detonated his explosives at the gate of the mosque in Baqouba after guards prevented him from entering the building itself. He says two of those killed were police officers and the other was a worshipper. The mainly Sunni city of Baqouba has been hit by several bombings despite an overall decline in violence. Attacks also occurred Monday in the former Sunni insurgent stronghold of Ramadi and parts of Baghdad.
