At least 3 killed as Syrian forces ups violence on protests

AMMAN - Syrian security killed at least three protesters in the northern city of Idlib and fired at protesters in Damascus and in the south of the country on Friday in an escalation of tactics to quell a four month uprising, activists said.
"The authorities are reacting to the refusal of the opposition to take part in a dialogue the regime wanted to control to cover up for the killings," opposition figure Louay Hussain told Reuters from Damascus by phone.
