Australia unveils 'toughest' anti-smoking law 'in world'

Australia has announced new anti-smoking measures which legislators claim would be the toughest such smoking laws anywhere in the world, BBC reported Thursday.
Under the new law, all logos and branding would be banned on cigarette packets. Brand names would appear in standard size and font.
Instead, packets would come in plain olive green, a color that smokers reportedly find most off-putting, BBC said. The two measures mark an attempt by the Australian government to shake off the glamor associated with smoking.
According to the BBC, big tobacco companies, worried of an international trend, have questioned the legality of the legislation, claiming infringement on international trademark and intellectual property laws.
