Ayalon: Palestinian unity government mustn't turn Fatah into Hamas

Israel has no interest in a Palestinian unity government composed of both Fatah and Hamas, Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said on Sunday morning, since at this point, Hamas is liable to be the more dominant factor and "turn Fatah into Hamas," rather than the more moderate Fatah having influence over the Islamist extremist group.
Speaking with Army Radio, Ayalon noted that efforts to form a Palestinian unity government were purely Egyptian, and said it didn't matter to Israel who was in power, rather what the actions of the government would be.
"The threefold international stipulation still exists - Hamas must accept the Jewish state, put an end to terrorism and abide with previous agreements the Palestinians reached with Israel," said the deputy minister.
