Azaria lawyer requests delay in prison sentence

Yoram Sheftel, the defense lawyer of Elor Azaria has petitioned for a delay in his client's prison sentence, pending a further appeal to the Supreme Court.

Following the military appeals' court ruling Sunday to uphold the lower court's conviction and sentence, Sheftel who has been representing the soldier found guilty of killing an incapacitated Palestinian assailant last March, said he was "unconvinced" by the judicial ruling and wanted to take it to the highest possible authority.

The prosecutor in turn said that they want the soldier to start serving his 18-months sentence next Wednesday.
