Azoulay: Moving firefighting unit is a clumsy decision

Knesset Interior Committee chair, Shas MK David Azoulay, said that the government's decision to transfer the firefighting system from the Interior Ministry to the Public Security Ministry was clumsy and unrealistic and would therefore not last.
Azoulay said that the decision was accepted without consultation with firefighters and was not based on their considerations, Israel Radio reported. The government approved Sunday an allocation of NIS 800 million for the creation of an emergency preparedness system, NIS 350 of which was to be allocated to an updated national fire service and an aerial firefighting unit.
