Bahrain's Khawaja ends hunger strike, wife says

DUBAI - Jailed Bahraini activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja ended a more than three-month-long hunger strike on Monday evening, his wife said.
Khawaja, who is also a Danish citizen, received a life term for charges including attempting to topple the Gulf Arab state@@@s monarchy. He went on hunger strike on Feb. 9.
"He has stopped his hunger strike," Khadija Almousawi, Khawaja@@@s wife, told Reuters by telephone from Manama. His lawyer had said earlier that Khawaja, a leading figure in Shi@@@ite Muslim-led pro-democracy unrest that erupted last year, felt he had succeeded in drawing attention to the issue of imprisoned activists.
