Ban Ki-moon discusses peace with Jordanian minister ahead of Abbas meeting

Jordanian Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judah on Thursday met with with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to discuss ways to support the peace negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians, Jordanian news site Petra reported.
In a joint press statement after the meeting, Judah said Ki-Moon's visit to Jordan was aimed at giving a push to negotiations which started under the guidance of US Secretary of State John Kerry.
According to Petra news, Judah presented Ban Ki-Moon with a summary of Jordan's efforts to assist in the resumption of negotiations and their hope in the establishment of a sovereign independent Palestinian state.
For his part, the UN secretary general praised Jordan's efforts for resumption of the negotiations, adding that UN was keen to support the start of the negotiations in order to achieve a two-state solution based on the Arab Peace Initiative, Petra news quoted Ki-moon as saying.
Ban Ki-moon called on the Palestinian and Israeli sides to exert all possible efforts for the success of these negotiations.
