Ban tours West Bank with Salam Fayyad

UN Secretary-General UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Saturday he was "deeplyconcerned about the worsening humanitarian situation" in the Gaza Strip.
During a tour of the West Bank with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, Ban called for renewing peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.
"Our Quartet partners have sent a clear message that we support your plan of establishing a viable, independent Palestinian state," Ban told Fayyad. He also expressed concern about the humanitarian situation in Hamas-ruled Gaza, which has been buckling under a border blockade by Israel and Egypt for nearly three years.
