Ban urges Obama to act to bring an end to Syrian civil war

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon urged the re-elected US President Barack Obama on Wednesday to act in order to end the war in Syria and to revive the Middle East peace process, AFP reported.
"Many challenges lie ahead -- from ending the bloodshed in Syria, to getting the Middle East peace process back on track, to promoting sustainable development and tackling the challenges posed by climate change. All will require strong multilateral cooperation," Ban said in a statement.
Ban congratulated Obama for his re-election and added he is looking forward to working with Obama "in the spirit of the enduring partnership between the United States and the United Nations."
