Bar-Ilan University to slash tuition for foreign students by up to 67%

Bar-Ilan University Vice Rector Prof. Amnon Albeck announced on Monday on a plan to reduce  tuition rates that is likely to significantly bolster foreign student enrollment in the University's International BA Program over the coming years.
Beginning this October, all incoming students in the International BA Program will begin paying standard Israeli tuition set by the Council for Higher Education (currently NIS 10,137 for Israeli citizens). This represents a dramatic reduction of nearly two thirds from the current cost for the International BA Program (NIS 29,000 per year). Further, students with the status of “New Immigrant” (new Oleh) will now be eligible for tuition fully subsidized by the Student Authority, a development that will ease the burden of searching for additional scholarships, work, and other funding sources just to get a college degree.
"This massive and unprecedented reduction in tuition, which comes following consultation with the Bar-Ilan Budget Committee, will ensure that more and more foreign students will be able to study at Bar-Ilan.” said Prof. Albeck. "The move is part of our commitment to the international Jewish community. We see this as a fundamentally Zionist move to ensure that Jewish students from around the globe know that they have a place to study – a world-class institution – without breaking the bank," he added.
