Barak calls Norway's FM over Elbit divestment; Stoere says fund is private

Defense Minister Ehud Barak called Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere on Friday to express his dismay over the announcement Thursday that Elbit Systems Ltd. had been dropped from the country's pension fund investments due to "ethical concerns" regarding its work on the West Bank security barrier. According to a statement released by the defense minister's bureau, Stoere told Barak that the fund is privately-owned and therefore his government has no control over its decisions. The minister went on to say that the Norwegian government has invested greatly In Israel and regards it as a "friendly state."
