Barak: Israel can deal with any enemy, near or far

Israel can deal with any enemy, near or far, due to the "young people in every generation that are prepared to fight for and defend its sovereignty and future," Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Monday.

"Israel is the most powerful nation within a 1,500 kilometer radius," Barak said during his remarks during a memorial service at Kibbutz Mishmar Hasharon, where the defense minister was born and raised.

The proximity of Holocaust Remembrance Day and Remembrance Day for the Fallen of Israel's Wars symbolizes the lesson that Israelis can only rely on themselves for ultimate protection, he said according to Israel Radio.
