Barak: Obama's leadership contributes to possibility of peace

"We are turning every stone in an effort to set peace talks in motion again," Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Tuesday following a US visit during which he met with government officials and members of Congress in Washington.

US President Barack Obama's contribution to the possibility of a peace agreement with the Palestinians was made clear during the visit, said Barak, adding that Obama's leadership was also aiding Israel's national security.

Barak stressed that the meetings he and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had conducted during the visit were "very important," dispelling rumors of a rift in US-Israel ties.
