Barak secretly meets with Abbas in Amman prior to talks

Defense Minister Ehud Barak secretly met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Amman on Monday night after having met Jordanian King Abdullah, Israel Radio reported.

According to the report, Barak updated Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu about his meeting with Abbas.

The subject of the meeting, which took place the day before Netanyahu was scheduled to fly to Washington to renew peace talks with the Palestinians, was not reported.
