Barak speaks at UN Holocaust Remembrance tribute

NEW YORK – At a ceremony for the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak told an audience Thursday in the United Nation’s General Assembly hall that “an independent, strong, thriving and peaceful State of Israel is the vengeance of the dead.”
“On this day, when we remember the six million victims, let us also remember two lessons: first, ‘the Holocaust – never again.’ And second –an independent, strong, thriving and peaceful State of Israel is the vengeance of the dead,” Barak told those gathered in Hebrew. “It is also the comfort for those remaining alive. Thus we have the uppermost responsibility to protect and defend it for the future generations.”
