Defense Minister Ehud Barak announced his approval to open the Jalame checkpoint to Palestinian vehicles after meeting with Jenin District Governor Kadura Musa on Tuesday.
Since 2000, Palestinian Authority-registered cars have not been allowed to pass through the checkpoint, located between Jenin and Mount Gilboa, without a special permit.
Barak announced during his tour of the area that in the coming weeks, the checkpoint would be opened to allow the crossing of 400-500 cars a day.
The announcement came the same day that security officials reported the arrest of seven terrorists, including a leading Hamas terrorist in Tulkarm and an active member of the PA security forces.
