Barkat urges PM not to freeze east J'lem construction

Jerusalem's mayor on Monday urged the government not to cease building in east Jerusalem, after the US claimed to have received assurances from Prime MinisterBinyamin Netanyahu that Israel would freeze construction in Ramat Shlomo for two years.
"We expect that the Interior and Housing ministries will approve construction projects and help in the efforts to stop the migration from the city," said Nir Barkat in a statement late Sunday night. "We trust that the prime minister will not allow a freeze, neither in words no deeds."
