Bayit Yehudi fined for ads with soldiers

The Central Election Committee fined the Bayit Yehudi Party NIS 4000 on Wednesday for an advertisement that illegally featured IDF soldiers. The law forbids election propaganda that creates an impression that the IDF identifies with a party or list of candidates.
The ad depicted four soldiers in the desert, one sporting a kippa and tzitzit, and the text, “We love the country, we serve the country.”
The committee accepted a petition by Peace Now Secretary-General Yariv Oppenheimer who argued that in addition to illegally depicting the IDF, the party deceived the public because it used a doctored photo.
