Aresident of the Beit Hanina neighborhood in northern confessed early Saturday that hehad murdered his wife using a knife and an axe. However, despite confessing tothe act, police said the suspect refused to reenact it.
Duringquestioning, the suspect described how his wife had left their householdseveral months previously, leaving him to care for their six children himself.Whenthe wife returned to the house on Friday, a fight ensued, culminating inher tragic death.
The suspect told police that he had attacked his wife with aknife, slit her throat and beat her while two of the couple’s children slept onin their rooms.
The two were not known to police, but had formerly beentreated by welfare services when the husband asked to transfer four of theirchildren to the state’s care, citing an inability to watch over them withoutthe aid of his wife.
