Beitar Jerusalem takes Shabbat stand

Beitar Jerusalem announced that it will play all its home matches in the upcoming Premier League season either on weekdays or on Saturdays after Shabbat has commenced.
With the club so far selling only several hundred season tickets, new owner Eli Tabib came to an agreement with the league’s official broadcasters that Beitar’s matches will not be held on Shabbat in order to attract religious and traditional spectators to Teddy Stadium.
Beitar is known to have many religious and traditional fans, but it remains to be seen if Tabib’s move will persuade them to purchase a season ticket. With the season to get underway in less than two weeks, Beitar has yet to complete the building of its squad, which currently includes very few attractive names.
