Bill against using headphones on crosswalks progresses

Legislation prohibiting crossing the street with headphones passed a preliminary Knesset reading Wednesday.
The bill by Knesset Road Safety Caucus chairman Hamad Amar (Yisrael Beytenu) would not allow the use of cell phones or headphones attached to any electronic device while on a crosswalk.
Amar expressed hope the bill would prevent future accidents, saying people risked their lives by crossing the street while looking at their phones.
