Bill outlawing discrimination against settlers moves forward

Legislation prohibiting businesses from discriminating against people based on where they live in providing services or allowing entry, passed a first reading in the Knesset overnight Monday.
If a business refuses to provide services based on where a person lives, a court may rule that it has to pay damages to the customer. The bill by MK Shuli Moalem-Refaeli (Bayit Yehudi) was meant to combat discrimination against resident of the West Bank, though she pointed out to Joint List MKs who opposed the bill that it was likely to help Israeli Arabs, as well.
