Boehner: No budget deal with White House

WASHINGTON - House Speaker John Boehner did not reach a budget deal that would keep the US government operating beyond a Friday deadline in a Tuesday meeting with President Barack Obama and other Democrats at the White House, his office said.
The two sides are at loggerheads over a plan that would tentatively slice $33 billion from this year's spending levels and ensure that the government does not shut down when a temporary funding measure expires at midnight on Friday.
