Bomb found in Holon, police suspect criminal motive

An explosive device was found outside a government building in Holon on Thursday, Tel Aviv police confirmed.

The bomb was found around 9 a.m. in an open area next to the Holon Licensing Office. Unlike many false alarm “suspicious packages,” the device turned out to be dangerous.

Police sappers “neutralized” it.

Tel Aviv District police said it appears that the attempted bombing was criminal in nature, and not “nationalist,” the term used for terrorist attacks. The district has opened an investigation.

Unlike the usual pattern in such instances, police did not report the discovery of the bomb to the press, and only commented on it officially hours later following an inquiry.
