Bomb targets German troops in north Afghanistan

A roadside bomb exploded near a convoy of German troops in northern Afghanistan on Saturday, according to Associated Press reporters. Afghan officials confirmed that an explosion occurred near the northern city of Kunduz, but could not immediately provide details. Two AP reporters said that a German military vehicle was damaged in the bombing. Another AP reporter at a nearby German base reported that the blast created a shock wave that could be felt inside the base. Officials announced that the base had been targeted in an attack. The roadside bomb came one day after a NATO fighter jet targeted two fuel tankers in Kunduz province in an attack that Afghan officials say killed up to 70 people, including civilians.
