Two Border Policemen were arrested by the Interior Ministry's Police Investigations Division (PID) on Monday on suspicion of robbing 15 Palestinians caught entering Israel illegally.
The officers, one of whom is a reservist, were on patrol in the Rahat region of the Negev, and in one instance, according to suspicions, stole wallets and cell phones from Palestinians working in the area illegally, while using their firearms to threaten their victims. The alleged robbery took place in a basement.
The alleged robbery victims filed a complaint with the PID, sparking the investigation.
Authorities say a number of goods stolen from the Palestinians have been retrieved and returned to their rightful owners.
