Britain, Germany criticize approval of 851 settlement homes

Britain and Germany criticized the Israeli government on Friday for its decision to approve the building of 851 more settlement homes in the West Bank. The US, UN and France had already slammed the Wednesday decision, taken shortly after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu blocked Knesset legislation that would have saved unauthorized settler homes from demolition.
British Foreign Minister William Hague called on the government to "change its approach," saying that building settlements on Palestinian land was against international law.
The German Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the settlement home approvals as well, stating that the move was harmful to efforts to renew Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.
