Britain's Fox sees limits to foreign role in Syria

WASHINGTON - Britain's Defense Secretary Liam Fox called on Tuesday for reforms in Syria but said there were limits to what other countries could do to halt violence against anti-government protesters.
"We can't do everything all the time and we have to recognize that there are practical limitations to what our countries can do," Fox told reporters, asked about the lack of Western intervention in Syria.
Fox, who met US Defense Secretary Robert Gates at the Pentagon, also said some momentum had been seen in the Libya conflict in recent days.
Gates said the NATO-led coalition was not targeting Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi specifically, despite hitting one of his compounds with a recent air strike.
