British archbishop: Islamic State poses 'once in a millennium' threat

LONDON - The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby said on Thursday that Islamic State poses an "extraordinary, once in a millennium threat".
He commended the efforts of Islamic leaders in condemning the actions of the militant group which has seized large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria.
"A lot of Islamic leaders have been speaking out to say this is not right, not authentic, not something that should happen. And we need to take away any pretended, supposed and false justification for religious violence from those who are perpetrating it," the archbishop said.
He said Christian leaders from the Middle East had described the threats they faced, during a meeting in London in September.
