British soldier killed by blast in Afghanistan

LONDON — A British soldier was killed in an explosion in southern Afghanistan on Monday, the British Defense Ministry announced.
The announcement proclaimed that a soldier from the Royal Dragoon Guards was killed in the blast during a vehicle patrol in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province.
The soldier has not been named but his family has been informed.
The latest death brings the number of British personnel who have died in Afghanistan to 311 since 2001 — 273 of them killed in hostile action.
