British soldier killed in south Afghanistan

LONDON — Britain's Ministry of Defense reported Wednesday that a soldier was killed while patrolling a volatile region in southern Afghanistan.
The ministry said the soldier from 40 Commando Royal Marines was on foot patrol in the Sangin District of Helmand Province when he was shot.
The attack was not related to the killing of three British troops by an Afghan soldier earlier Tuesday.
The ministry did not identify the Commando Royal Marines soldier but said his family has been informed.
