Cabinet approves accelerated planning for nat. gas terminal

Cabinet members unanimously approved a plan to speed up the planning of natural gas absorption facilities at Sunday's meeting.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu criticized the ongoing bureaucratic delays in establishing natural gas receiving facilities and stressed the the government must accelerate the process of planning and construction, in order to ensure a natural gas supply for Israeli citizens.
"The current discoveries of natural gas stockpiles in the sea belong to the people of Israel and it is of utmost importance that the people of Israel benefit from them," Netanyahu said, according to his office. "The Israeli economy will be strengthened as a result of these discoveries, economic growth will be an outcome of the use of these discoveries, and we cannot delay them."
The prime minister instructed his office's director-general, Harel Locker, to implement the recommendations immediately and if delays do occur, to open legislative proceedings.
